I would expect you'd have to go with whatever carrier is carrying the iPhone in your area... Do you know off hand what carrier is picking up the iPhone where you are?
There are of course ways around it, but there will probably be drawbacks. For example, on Rogers in Canada, if you unlock the phone for use, the data plan does not jive correctly on the EDGE network Rogers runs... so you can use the phone as a phone, but any internet/email on the go doesn't work. You have to hook it up to wireless at home or office to do that. Kinda sucks... but that will be coming to an end soon.
