3g Iphone is what iphone 1.0 should have been

I agree, the first iPhone was cool but not cool enough for me to buy one for $399 eps for 4gb even 8 gb, and it didnt have GPS in it. Even the $150 Blackberies have GPS, come one Steve...

I did hear that Garmin does have a version of thier software that will run on the iPhone but its not completed or some delay..
I think Tom Tom has already said that they are releasing their Software for the iPhone. Its a smart move but they probably wont give it away for $29.99, I would expect thier price point to be more lilk $99, so my concern is this is version 1 of the iPhone with GPS, how well is it going to work, I wouldnt buy one thinking that the GPS with garmin or Tom Tom software would be the bomb because its probably not going to work very well.. most GPS devices that I have seen that work well have flip up antenas, but this is just a phone..
I agree that the rumor mill was full of stuff that didnt show up in the final product. I was disappointed about the iChat capabilites ( although I dont think ATTs network is ready for that because 3G is only in major metro areas, its not nation wide like 3g is in Europe, Japan etc....) so that could have been part of the problem. Another disapointment was the colors, or lack there of, but I bet that will change in 3 months. I would have liked to see a slightly smaller one in the 2.8" range, because the current phone is larger than my old BRICKberry... I guess all that will change next year or in the next 5...
