This is sort of a fast review for Speed Download, a multipurpose file sharing application.
Speed Download has four main features:
- It downloads files, and very quickly, too. I have it set up on my computer to automatically open when I download a file in Safari. This can save a lot of downloading time. Honestly, it's really fast.
- It's a fully functional FTP and SFTP client. The FTP client has a file browser that's pretty unique from what I've seen; you can view the file trees of both your computer and the remote server side by side, with disclosure (flippy) triangles, just like in Finder's list view.
- It also apparently now supports encrypted peer-to-peer file sharing, which I haven't tried yet. From the web site: "Easily share any file you download, receive, or keep on your Mac with any other Speed Download user on your local network (via Bonjour) or remotely securely, easily, and with 1-click."
- Another feature, that I also haven't tested, is iDisk integration. The interface appears to be identical to the one for FTP, though.
Speed Download | The Ultimate Mac OS X download manager
Does anybody else here use Speed Download? I use it mostly just for the speedy downloads, (as the name implies) but also sometimes for FTP if I'm moving a lot of files around. Yeah, it costs $25 USD, but I got it with a MacHeist bundle I believe.
