If I were to purchase a new Mac laptop

Should I get a macbook pro, or a regular macbook?

I currently use a dell 700m, small, lightweight, centrino, 4gb of ram.
I use a web browser for work, having sometimes 50 tabs open at once.
I use MS Access.

I would like to hook up my hd video camera and edit on my laptop, but it's not a thing I would do all the time.

I love a snappy computer and run my xp clean, no extra stuff, lots of ram, and keep things running quite well.

My girl bought a Macbook pro and I fell in love with it, the stability alone was great. She purchased it for graphic design, so I understand why she would go for the pro.

I'll wind up running Parallels or something for programs that only run in a Windows environment.

So, I think that's about it, I don't really game on a my laptop, I have consoles for that.

Thanks!

I think I'm leaning towards the mbp, but the extra 1500, to me, is kind of excessive, no?
1k is easier for me to swallow rather than 2500.

Macbook Pro hands down. The extra processing power for running those the windows environment comes in handy. Wait a bit though. Macbook Pros and Macbooks are due for an update soon.

So, after the aforementioned update I'd go for the Macbook if I were You....

- You won't need the extra graphics bang of the pro

- is Your HD FireWire? then You'd be in some kind of a conflict- but due to the reduced footprint and weight while being REALLY powerful all things point to the MacBook if You ask me...

btw, I like to run my system as you describe it: no frills, no fancy animations, clean setup... the difference is, I do it on a 3 year old PB12" with 1GB of RAM, running OS 10.5.5 without a slowdown to talk about...

you could opt to go for the "lighted keyboard" MacBook with 4GB RAM if you want.... if You haven't bought anything yet, that is ;-)
