Do what? Where did I multi-post? Hey and if I have to be slapped, slap me good is all I can say.

Is MMS something that requires additional hardware functionality? As I'm not planning on spending the extra cash on another iPhone, I'd be really appreciative if this could come in the 2.0 update rather than being tied to the 3G phone.

It's software, my friend, no worries. I'm sure they'll be an app in the app store that will provide MMS functionality...hopefully sooner than later.

I don't think it would be true MMS. MMS would have to decided by AT&T as they would charge for it. But it will probably be an app & service that will act as a go between email to converting to MMS (something similar to my post about Teleflip).

Awesome. Thanks guys. Being an EE I should know more about this than I do, though to my quasi-credit, I did suspect it would be software...

it's great that the MMS feature depends only on the software. let's only hope they include it in 2.0

True MMS depends on cellular service, in addition to the hardware.

Cory's original question stated "additional hardware functionality", and I replied based on the fact that MMS does not require hardware changes on the iPhone, only software. I think we can assume that MMS capability is supported by most (if not all) carriers (specifically, the capability to send/receive MMS data). The iPhone doesn't have MMS functionality NOT because the carrier can't handle it; but because the software isn't built to handle MMS.

I've never used it before (though mostly because of my old inferior phone's inability), but the iPhone should definitely have it. I'd use it all the time.
