on the other hand...

Looks like Aimersoft are a formerly Windows-only software company. That may be how they promote themselves in PCLand, by posting in forums.

One thing that did work for them is that I hadn't heard of this software before, and now i have.

What they should do is add themselves to the database at Versiontracker, then they might get a few more hits. I didn't check at Macupdate, Wakoopa, Deligio or any of the other sites.

tachyon,

Yep, kind of figured this was a half shameless plug, half useful post so I left it here Has started some good discussion anyway.

They would certainly be smart to add themselves to those databases... Especially Macupdate.

How to import DVD to iMovie
iMovie supports MOV and MP4 video, so you just need to convert your DVD movie to the right format. Aimersoft DVD Ripper for Mac can easily convert DVD to MOV or MP4 with high quality, you just need to import DVD to Aimersoft DVD Ripper for Mac, select MOV or MP4 as output format, regular DVD movie has multiple subtitles and audio tracks, and you can select the right one for you. If you just want a certain part of the DVD movie, you can click “trim” to cut the DVD movie. Just drag the timeline bar to set the start and end time, and then blue line will be the captured parts.

When the conversion is finished, you can run the iMovie, build a new project, and then drag the converted files to the work space to make personal files.

When the task is finished, In the Menu bar, Click “File” -> “Export” and save it as QuickTime video, then you can convert it to other video format or burn it to DVD. If you need detailed info, here is a step by step guide about how to export iMovie project to QuickTime.
