Most of these are variations on contests I've seen before - so don't expect anything too original - just some food for thought to get the creative juices flowing:
1) With the popularity of the App Store, iTunes cards now have more potential than just music and audiobooks - so $50 or $100 iTunes cards have even broader appeal now 2) Some sort of creative contest, i.e. design the next ___________; i.e. Macbook Pro, iPod, or iPhone (with details on what criteria they will be judged by) 3) How about an "iPhone Wallpaper Design Contest" - with categories like funniest, most original, etc. 4) Post a photo with an Apple product in it and get people to post captions...the funniest captions win ___________ (iTunes cards, iPod nano, etc.) 5) The most original App Idea Contest! 6) I believe the opportunity to win a Macbook (or Macbook Pro) would go over really well... I think the more contests the better.
Contests are obviously great to generate site traffic and forum traffic. I like the idea of design contests. Or even contributing to Mactropolis.... podcasts, videos, theme tunes i dunno. you would give away itunes vouchers, accessories, hardware. |

Yeah i kinda agree with Bob, giving away iPhones. Mr. Mayor > Santa? Haha but i dont know this might just be me sayin this because i already won something. Other people probably want win something also but its your decision on how much you want to spend on us

What if instead of counting the amount of postings people contribute, you have some way to monitor the quality of the postings during the contest? For example, during the last contest there were some very useful and insightful comments that I came across in different threads. If there was a button that said something like "nominate this comment/user to be included in the XYZ contest" it would reward those who take the time to post quality comments as well as deter others from posting just for the sake of it. What do you guys think?

Good idea, not sure how difficult it would be to implement it.
