Next Contest?

haha, folks I love the idea about a contest for my old iPhone.. but that would involve me picking up the new one first

Also, a wallpaper design contest would be fantastic as well... I like both of those ideas...

Here's another idea I had last night...

Mactropolis.com's Race to 1000 Members Contest

Your chance to win a XXXXXXXX (was thinking another iPhone???)
Refer your friends to Mactropolis via our handy referral form, and the person that refers the most new REAL members by the time we reach 1000 members is the winner!

What defines a REAL member?
- definition of real member here (want to avoid people just signing up new, dummy accounts somehow)

In the event of a tie
- winner will be chosen randomly from the tied contestants.

I think the member contest would be interesting. I do see the problem though you would have verifying if the members were actual new "real" members and not fictitious accounts. That same could be said for any contest though. It is difficult to prove the author's authenticity of the item submitted for the contest.

Another concern is certainly the costs of the prizes. If it is all coming out of your wallet, then it adds up after a time. So that raises the question what kind of incentive will get people to enter that is affordable.
