Post What to Do Until iPhone 3G Launch!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let's help each other out. You know and I know that the anticipation of owning the new iPhone 3G is killing us inside...slowly but surely. I hope I'm not the only one willing to admit it. So, we need to offer each other some help and encouragement to make it to that day without losing our minds. I'll start with some ideas, and I need you (yes, YOU) to help me come up with ways to fill up time until Launch Day.

We have (as of this post) 18 DAYS - 4 HOURS - 3 MINUTES to kill before 3G-Day.

I'll start the list...you guys come through and add your own ideas!

HERE WE GO:

1) If you haven't done so already, figure out how you'll pay for you new iPhone.

2) Sort and arrange your iTunes content, making sure:
- all your music is rated and sorted into playlists (i.e. workout/relax/recently purchased etc.
- make sure all your music contains album covers
- here's one that'll take some time: add lyrics to your song library (the iPhone displays lyrics when you tap the screen during song play)
- your favorite videos are ready to sync over to the 3G iPhone

3) Get an iTunes gift card and have it checked into iTunes for the making purchases from the upcoming App Store!

4) Sort through your favorite photos and get them ready to sync to iTunes

5) Download 20-30 of the coolest iPhone wallpapers for your new device

6) Play through your favorite video game(s), i.e. Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Gears of War, or World or Warcraft (this should kill at least 4 or 5 days!)

7) If you have the first generation iPhone, sell it NOW! Or, if you're married, give it to your spouse

8) Watch the iPhone 3G commercial 138 times like I have (yes, I'm sick)

9) Sleep as much as you can - this makes time go by pretty fast for me

10) Watch all the keynote speeches since the debut of the iPhone

I honestly dont have time to do any of those, simply coz I am going to be new to Itunes (never owned an ipod lol) My current phone is an mp3 player. Um also I am working fulltime so I just dont have the time. But Im learning slowly on this forum. So I guess thats a bonus eh

I want to sell the phone I have right now. But I seriously cant see anyone buying it when they know the new iphone is coming out. I purchased it in December for about $450 so 350-385 would be what Id like to sell it for. Who knows I will see.

But yeah, again, working will kill time for me

All others, really good tips.

11) Figure a way to import your current contacts, or just start making a list.

I would buy someones old iPhone I don't think I would want to spend to much though, as the new ones are now cheap.

I think getting the first generation iPhone is a great idea if:

1) you want to keep your monthly cost lower (by around $15/month - in US, it will be $85 vs. $70/month for the lowest 450min/unlimited data plan, which adds up)

2) you don't need 3G high speed everywhere - meaning, if you never travel for work or personally and don't mind slower internet/email access when you're out and about

3) you want a more affordable iPhone than $199. (Once the new iPhone launches, first gen. iPhones will drop significantly from where they are now) so be patient

4) unlike me, you don't need the latest and greatest, and are patient and smart

If your contacts are already in Outlook or Outlook Express (PC) or in Address Book (MAC), then you're good to go to sync your contacts via iTunes.

If not, and you have contacts on your current phone, you can get the 30-day trial of SyncCell (for PC...there are others) and sync your contacts over from your device to one of those apps pretty easily...good luck!

webwise I'd seriously consider to stop double and even triple posting. I dont want to sound like a selfish jerk or anything because i would like to win the iPhone as much as the next guy but posting three in a row just doesn't seem totally fair to others who would like to win it. If you have something else to say and you currently have the last post just please click the "edit" button in your previous post and just add to it. Thank you.

edit: disregard this post ^^^
