I have tried Wine, briefly. I couldn't exactly get it to work. I have heard good things about VMWare. I will get that once I get some money saved up and also a retail version of Windows Vista. The thing about VMWare is that you can use both Windows and Mac together pretty seamless. Bootcamp you have to boot either windows or mac. I have heard that one of the major AntiVirus program companies out there now has both Windows and Mac Anti-virus program together so you can protect yourself in both os.

It's also worth checking out both VMWare Fusion and Parallels demos as well as looking at a few reviews of both prior to making a decision.

Parallels Desktop for Mac
VMware Fusion
One major difference is that VMWare allows you to run almost any OS, including Linux and Solaris...having multiple "run files" for any OS...

Also, Macmall.com does offer Parallels free after rebate when you buy any mac.

I think the feature that allows you to have Mac and Windows menus on the same screen is intriguing (they both have this).

Also I believe WMWare (not sure about Parallel) gives student discounts.

I bought Parallels in the MacUpdate bundle and can't say I regret it... the updates are fairly frequent and coherence Mode melts the Windows desktop into Your OSX environment- very nice...

Never had a look at VMware, so I can't really compare the two, but I from my side am happy with Parallels!

madmacmat,

I'm eyeing Parallels myself...so you don't experience compatibility issues with the Windows apps you have installed?

Thanks in advance,

ww
