network harddrive & time machine
Hello everybody!
I've got a question that's been bothering me since a few weeks. Since I have MacOS Leopard on my G5 I've been using TimeMachine and backups were made on a external harddrive with firewire. Compliments to Apple: works like a charme!
Because the G5 and the harddisk are in the same building making a backup of my data would be of no use when both the G5 and the harddisk are lost, due to, for example, a fire or people-with-bad-intentions.
Recently I bought a external harddisk with both a USB2 and a network-connection. I was thinking of making a completly new backup with TimeMachine on this harddrive using the USB-connection so that the largest part of the backup is allready on the disk and after that take the harddisk to my home (my G5 is at my work) and connect it to my router.
Problem is that TimeMachine can't find this harddrive when its connected to my router at home. I'm aware that backing up in this way will be slow when the backup drive is connected to my router, buth that's something I'll take for granted. The big plus is that the backup and the G5 are at different places.
Thanx in advance for your help!
