I have an idea. What if instead of posting the names of the winners you post directly the video? That way it would be even more exciting to see how you pick the name. It would be just like watching it live

oh yeah that would be sweet and nobody spoil it by writing congratulations. That would be sweet, it would be like watching it live!

+ I like the idea of doing it old school style but it might take a little bit of time.

Oh and one more (and hopefully my last) question, which phone are you buying for the winner, the no-commitment (doubt it because they are $599 and $699), the non-eligible upgrade (still a little much $399 and $499), the upgrade (great price $199 and $299), or whichever the winner needs to purchase?

Yep, will announce the winners in a video for sure... that's the way to do it

With that in mind, I will work closely with the winners to absolutely ensure that they get their iPhone. If it comes to it, winners can head down to their AT&T (or other carrier) store, purchase the phone/plan, and I will reimburse them for the amount of the iPhone itself.

Winners WILL receive their iPhones, we just might have to work it out as we go depending on the situation

Good question, and a valid one.

I had a developer friend of mine create a little custom program for me.

Basically it assigns a number to each member, checks if they've posted in the contest thread, and then checks the number of posts they've made so that they count as entries.

From there I basically hit the 'Go' button and it randomly selects a winning user from all entries.

For the final iPhone drawings, I'm going old-school with paper and video camera in-hand... I'm hoping it's not too overwhelming

that's a very cool program. i guess that for your friend it was a piece of cake to make it, but for me it would be impossible.
