Mactropolis Feedback

I thought I saw another group for this, but I can't seem to find it, so I'm starting a thread here.

2 things. First, when an article on the site has comments, even though I visit mactropolis.com everyday, I tend to miss the fact that there are comments b/c I don't see the x comments at the top of the article. Just a suggestion, but can that be moved near the bottom of the article, and maybe show a few comments or the first line or so?

Second, the forum has a whole lot of sections that aren't being used. IF you do a quick scroll through the forum, you'll see the majority have never been posted on. Maybe consolidating down to just 5-10 section (closer to 5 rather than 10) will be more inviting, and less overwhelming. I've had many sites fail in the past b/c of too many options on a forum.

Anyways, just some feedback

Thanks Mat!

Yes, that is a good suggestion. I'll look into that and see if I can get the comments count to appear at the bottom of the post as well.

Regarding the forums, I actually just finished re-working them! I'm going to be working hard to populate them... I think once a critical mass of initial posts hits I think we'll be ok... what do you think?

I want to make sure there is a forum for (almost) everything...

On the forums, when an image is added to a post, at times they get large and break the look and feel of the thread. (thus far I think I'm the only one guilty of this)

on another Mac Forum the forum software automatically resizes the image to a layout friendly size and provides a link to view the full size image. Can somethign like this be done for Mactropolis Forums?

See image below to see what I mean:

This is going back to my previous request about images auto-resizing if they are too large for the format of the page.

Mr.Mayor I know you have a life an all, but more updates could see this blog as big as TUAW blog. Some nerds like myself check this blog and others aleast a few times a day. Crazy for new updates. More updates = good!!

blogging for Mactropolis

Benny,

You bring up a valid point.

This is where I'm really going to have to lean on great folks like yourself to help take things to a new level.

Of course, I do have a life, have clients and other obligations to take care of... so when it comes to blogging, I can use all the help I can get to make sure fresh and timely content is on the blog every day.

Would you at all be interested in blogging for the site? ipodtoucher and I have been talking over the past few days and he's gung-ho about posting. In fact, one post from the toucher is up on the index right now.

I know time is a concern, and it's a bit of a volunteer gig, but let me know if you are at all interested. I can always dish out 'schwag' when it becomes available, but that's the best I can do right now

Feel free to email me at mayor at mactropolis dot com and we can chat
