Any InDesigners out there?

I was taught QuarkXpress in college but have recently switched over to InDesign. I attended a design seminar a few weeks ago and it seemed like 75% of the people that had recently switched over.

I'm using it to design a photography book I'm publishing and am impressed with how intuitive it is. If you know QuarkXpress, you know InDesign. And being an Adobe product, it works nicely with Photoshop.

I'd love to see some design samples from anyone out there who's used it for publishing. Here's a simple CD cover I designed for a local country artist using Photoshop and InDesign.

At work, I look after about 12 InDesign users.

InDesign is an incredibly powerful package, and of course has its own problems but they are far outweighed by its strengths.

I highly recommend the Indesignsecrets blog/podcast.

(I don't work for that podcast.)

What type of company do you work for tach? A magazine or newspaper? I'd love an InDesign job so please hire me. Err...wait, where are you located? haha...

After years of avoiding it, I'm finally trying to face the music and learn Illustrator. I'm terrible at the bezier handles. I never know where to put my anchor points and end up twisting them into a mess. I'm hoping the pen tool gets easier with use? If not, I will elect to move under the sea where bezier curves don't exist.

I know how you feel. I actually want to learn illustrator too. Ive had a go at using a xaraxtreme. Which was user friendly but wouldnt allow you to make larger images. Well not that i was aware of anyway.

So Ive got to give it a go with illustrator to decide which one i should buy.

I have InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop AND Imageready but so far I've only used Photoshop D:

Unfortunately, they're all CS1. Is that very limiting? I really want CS3, but I'd have to pirate it :3

CS1 is fantastic!!! No real need to upgrade, too many people get caught up in the "I need to have the newest version of..." craze without actually learning to use the software.

The only reason we upgraded to CS3 was because we were starting to get files that were created in InDesign3 & weren't able to carry on the workflow here. Otherwise, we'd still be on CS1.

Not to say that the upgrades aren't great, I don't always feel that they are worth the costs, unless they really will speed up our workflow.
