I haven't really used Office 2008, but I like what I've seen as far as the interface, and that little "widget" that displays Tasks and Events seems kinda cool...

Mabsey, I'm finding Office 2007 to be sluggish on my high-end (Toshiba Qosmio G25) laptop...are you experiencing a performance difference between '07 and previous Office?

Office 2008 is just ridiculously slow in booting and general performance, far slower than 2004 in rosetta, and lacks the feature set that 2004 had, I'm wondering why people paid to upgrade?

I'll second that, lostgame... Microsoft invested quite a big time into the visual renovation of Office, but they absolutely failed in terms of performance...

apart from that, they added compatibility features that were missing that make working in a mixed Mac/PC environment easier- and it is a well-known fact that ultimately compatibility is the reason for Windows being the bogged error-prone OS it currently is....the downfall is in the verge if You ask me...

I hate to say this, because I don't like the new ("old" now) 2007 Office, but I wish I had it on my computer last night. I was in a crunch and used iWork trial to get a report done and I had tons trouble with the formatting, etc. on it. I realize I should give it time, but normally I can jump into most programs and understand it. I wish Microsoft would allow a trial of Office 2008. I would love to try it before I buy it.
