Question for those of you that were lucky enough to...

get an iPhone 3g.

Are you having any speed issues like what some news sources are reporting?

What type of speed are you getting?

I haven't really had a big chance to test it out yet because i didn't want to bring it on my vacation with me. Not taking any risks this soon. But I'll be sure to keep you updated as soon as I return!

While I have not conducted any type of actual speedtest, I can atest that the new 3G connection for my iPhone is exponentially faster than previous EDGE connection.

Some of my co-workers who had previously used my 1st generation iPhone noticed a marked improvement also.

I will bet as some time passes and the newness of the device wears off and people start using it in their normal pattern, instead of the heat of the moment, a lot of the current network issues will iron themselves out.

I am having speed issues, as in the OS is sluggish...simple things like typing or selecting a contact or an entry field can result in delayed reactions that last a few seconds. Other issues I'm having are related to the apps - the buggy ones will reset the iPhone every once in awhile, or simply resort to the home screen without rhyme or reason. Updates to these apps will fix these bugs, and I hear there's an iPhone 2.0.1 on the horizon to fix various issues...

Here are a couple connection speed test results I've had using testmyiphone.com

3g - 1663 Kbps, 1556 Kbps, 1381 Kbps

Overall I'm happy with the connection speeds this phone seems at least as fast if not faster than my old blackjack 2

I'm using 2.0 on my iPod Touch, and I know exactly what you mean. Of course, it's less buggy than jailbreaking, but I expected more. Even the much talked about AIM app is buggy for me. And I thought Apple said that they took so much time releasing the SDK to get rid of bugs... Oh well, hopefully this will be sorted out soon.

I am experiencing the same problems. It is very sluggish loading my contacts. And occasional crashes. But man I love my newest baby.

I have an occasional lag when opening contacts, but no crashes at all. I'm usually not one to jump on a new product, but I'm so happy I picked up my iPhone on launch day

I just picked up the first gen iPhone and updated to 2.0. I was also experiencing the same issues. I simply held down the top button and then turned the phone off and back on. That helped a ton. I also held down the top button and the main button at the bottom of the phone to do a reboot.

After that, I haven't had any issues since. Hope that helps.
