TeleFlip, free service lets you....
I was looking at Macrumors and came across an article about how to get unlimited SMS for free. Basically you use the service called Teleflip, which turns an email into a SMS and vice versa. Heres the link MacRumors iPhone Blog: Free Unlimited SMS Messages
IPhone user emails --->TeleFlip then they ----> send it to your friend as an SMS. When your friend replies ----> sends their SMS response to ---->TeleFlip who ----> converts SMS response to email to you. (If I understand it correctly.)

Because AT&T plans have limited text messages. So unless you don't send/receive many txt msgs or unless you do it this way, then you are going to rack up costs by sending/receiving too many.

It depends on how much you use text, and how useful it is to you...
If you get texts from friends, and news by text, and updates from Twitter and/or Facebook/MySpace, then having the real-time text is worth $5/10/15. It's all up to the individual's habits and needs... I'm all for saving $, but in my case, I use it just enough (<200) for timely information to warrant the $5/m extra... I do hate AT&T for not keeping the 200 texts in the plan... |
