It all depends on what you expect the iPhone(or any device for that matter) to do.

It is an amazing platform. Is it right for you? Only you know. If you read reviews, go to the store and play with one, ask people you see with them, you will be able to make a very good educated guess whether or not it is right for you.

Asking about a product on a forum dedicated for that product isn't really the best place to ask either, answers tend to be skewed!
